Bikram Yoga is the famous series of 26 yoga postures and 2 breathing exercises developed by Bikram Choudhury from Hatha Yoga. The series is performed over 90 minutes in a room heated to approximately 40°C. The aim is to systematically work every muscle, tendon, joint, ligament, organ and gland, whilst also moving oxygenated blood to the cells of the body.
Why is the room heated? The heat facilitates deeper stretching, prevents injury and relieves tension. It promotes detoxification of the body, flushing toxins and leaving a deep sense of relaxation and well being.
